SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 31

Whitlow, Schoonover, Ross, Sharpe, Helmick, Miller, Love, Blatnik and Bowman)


Recognizing the outstanding academic accomplishments of West Virginia University's five Foundation Scholarship winners.

Whereas, Brian James Anderson of Ripley High School; Jacqueline Denise Bass of Charleston Catholic High School; Shaun Michael Meckley of Tyler Consolidated High School; Thomas Bradley Miller of Fairmont Senior High School; and Christopher Carl Vannoy of Roane County High School, have distinguished themselves throughout their high school careers; and
Whereas, The West Virginia University Scholars Program recognizes the academic excellence of more than six hundred freshman annually, awarding a total of nearly two million dollars to outstanding high school students; and
Whereas, These five outstanding students have been awarded West Virginia Foundation Scholarships, which will pay full tuition, room and board, fees and textbooks throughout their career at West Virginia University; and
Whereas, These five students join an elite group of forty- seven West Virginia residents as recipients of this major award; and
Whereas, These five students represent the highest ideals of academic excellence, leadership and extracurricular activity at their respective high schools; therefore, be it
Resolved by the Senate:
 That the Senate hereby congratulates Brian James Anderson of Ripley High School; Jacqueline Denise Bass of Charleston Catholic High School; Shaun Michael Meckley of Tyler Consolidated High School; Thomas Bradley Miller of Fairmont Senior High School; and Christopher Carl Vannoy of Roane County High School for their selection and acceptance as winners of the West Virginia University Foundation Scholarship Program; and, be it
 Further Resolved, That the Senate hereby extends its heartfelt best wishes to these five outstanding West Virginia students for their continued academic excellence and for any future endeavors they may choose to undertake; and, be it
 Further Resolved, That the Clerk is hereby directed to forward a copy of this resolution to Brian James Anderson; Jacqueline Denise Bass; Shaun Michael Meckley; Thomas Bradley Miller; and Christopher Carl Vannoy.
